Real-Time Vehicle Protection & Recovery
Our Story
Track Back Auto wasn’t created in a boardroom. It was built from years of watching the same problem get worse across Queensland communities.
Before entering the security and investigations industry, I worked in computers and technology at Harvey Norman where customers regularly came looking for ways to protect their vehicles. GPS trackers, dashcams, AirTags, immobilisers, anything that gave them some peace of mind as car theft and home break ins continued rising.
At the time, Government funded immobiliser programs were introduced, and thousands of people rushed to protect their cars. But over time, many systems proved frustrating, unreliable, easy to bypass, or simply reactive instead of preventative.
Meanwhile, crime continued increasing.
As concern grew inside my own family, I decided to move deeper into the security industry. I worked in asset protection on Australian Border Force vessels at Austal and Norship, later becoming a licensed investigator specialising in surveillance and general insurance investigations.
That experience exposed me to the reality behind stolen vehicles. Insurance claims, financial loss, stress on families, recovery complications, and the growing impact vehicle crime was having on the community.
I later joined Cairns Regional Council CitySafe Operations, conducting CBD patrols, working in CCTV monitoring environments, observing anti social behaviour, liaising with police, and seeing firsthand the impact stolen vehicles and youth crime were having across the region.
I also worked as a Court Officer at Cairns Magistrates Court supporting Queensland Police Protective Services, where I continued seeing the same cycle repeat itself. Public frustration growing. Crime dominating conversations. Communities demanding solutions while people continued living on edge.
For years, I researched technologies, studied crime trends, spoke with victims, and searched for something better than the systems already available.
That search eventually led me to TrackN Pty Ltd and Ash Glenister, whose technology became the foundation of Track Back Auto.
Unlike basic trackers or keypad immobilisers, this technology allows vehicles to be monitored live and remotely immobilised once stationary in the event of theft. No daily codes. No visible hardware. No relying on an AirTag hidden under a seat.
The systems are professionally installed hidden within the vehicle and connected to live monitoring technology that gives owners real visibility and protection.
The first night I had the system installed into my own vehicle was the first proper sleep I’d had in years.
That’s where Track Back Auto was born.
Not from fear. From frustration, experience, and the belief that Australians deserve smarter vehicle protection and real recovery solutions when theft occurs.
Stay Ahead of Theft – Smarter Vehicle Security with Track Back Auto
Track Back Auto provides advanced vehicle tracking, theft prevention, and recovery solutions designed to help protect both commercial fleets and private vehicles.
Our technology combines real time GPS tracking, remote immobilisation capability, and live monitoring systems to give owners greater visibility, control, and peace of mind. In the event of theft or unauthorised use, Track Back Auto assists with live vehicle monitoring and coordinated recovery support, helping safely immobilise the vehicle once stationary.
Designed for fleet operators, transport companies, contractors, hire vehicle providers, and everyday vehicle owners, our systems are built to reduce downtime, minimise losses, and improve recovery outcomes.
Unlike basic tracking devices, Track Back Auto focuses on proactive protection and real world response capabilities, delivering intelligent vehicle security solutions suited to modern theft risks across Queensland.
Remote Engine Immobiliser
Remotely immobilise vehicles when authorised and safe to do so. Immobilisation is only activated once a vehicle is stationary and following appropriate verification procedures. Where required, Track Back Auto can provide real time location information and coordinate with Queensland Police Service to support safe vehicle recovery in accordance with Australian laws and community safety practices.
Real-Time GPS Tracking
Registered vehicles are monitored live from our operations centre. If a vehicle moves outside its approved schedule or designated geofence and the owner cannot be contacted, our team begins live tracking and monitors vehicle movement. When appropriate, Queensland Police are notified and provided with real-time information to support loss prevention and recovery efforts, helping to reduce potential claims and limit risk exposure.
Residential Vehicle Patrol
Track Back Auto is actively advocating to the Australian Government to fund overnight residential vehicle patrols as a community safety measure. We are proposing a 12-month pilot program in Cairns and Townsville to deter theft, detect suspicious activity early, and reduce vehicle crime affecting the community.
Evidence Collection & Factual Reports
All incidents are recorded and documented by a licensed internal investigator. Timestamped logs, vehicle routes, and event details are compiled into formal reports that can be provided to the Queensland Police Service or insurers to support investigations, claims, and recovery processes.
Liaison with Police & Insurers
When a registered vehicle is stolen or moved without authorisation, we respond immediately. If the owner cannot be contacted or confirms the movement is unauthorised, Queensland Police are notified and provided with live tracking information. A licensed investigator then compiles a detailed, factual incident report to support police investigations and accelerate insurance claims.
Professional Installation
All Track Back Auto systems are professionally installed by licensed auto electricians, ensuring seamless integration with your vehicle’s electronics. Our expert technicians handle wiring, CAN bus connections, and immobilisation setup to guarantee reliable operation without compromising safety or manufacturer warranties. Every installation is completed to industry standards, providing businesses and private owners with confidence in the performance and security of their vehicle protection system.

Turning the Tide on Vehicle Crime in Far North Queensland
At TrackBack Auto, our mission is driven by the reality our communities are facing. From July 2024 to June 2025 alone, Far North Queensland recorded over 1,300 cases of vehicles being broken into, more than 1,600 vehicles unlawfully used, and over 5,200 unlawful entries with intent. These figures highlight a serious pattern of vehicle-related and property crime. Nearly 500 life-endangering acts were also reported, underscoring the growing risk to public safety. With over 4,000 additional incidents of general stealing—including vehicle parts and valuables left inside—our approach goes beyond prevention.

Frequently Asked Questions
TrackBack Auto is a Cairns-based vehicle protection service offering real-time GPS tracking, remote engine immobilisation, overnight monitoring, vehicle patrols, and investigative reporting. Our mission is to reduce vehicle theft and assist law enforcement through proactive technology and physical deterrence.
We use high-grade 4G GPS tracking units and fleet monitoring software developed by TrackN Pty Ltd. This system supports real-time location updates, motion alerts, geo-fencing, and remote engine immobilisation.
A certified technician installs the unit discreetly in your vehicle. Installations are typically completed in under one hour and include a demonstration of system features.
TRACKN units are non-invasive and professionally installed to manufacturer-safe standards. We advise checking with your car manufacturer or dealer if unsure.
Once reported to police and confirmed, our system enables real-time tracking. Once stationary and cleared by police, we can remotely immobilise the vehicle and dispatch a patrol to assist with recovery.
Yes, our monitoring is continuous. Overnight patrols and surveillance are part of our deterrence model, especially for high-risk areas or clients away on holidays.
Yes. We provide timestamped reports, route logs, and incident summaries that can support insurance claims or police evidence.
Absolutely. All tracking data is encrypted and stored securely in compliance with Australian Privacy Laws. Only authorised staff and police (upon request) can access your vehicle data.
Only you and our licensed monitoring team. We will never sell or share your data with third parties.
Most modern cars (sold in Australia from the early 2000s onward) do come with basic factory-fitted immobilisers as part of anti-theft compliance standards. These typically:
Prevent the engine from starting without the correct key or transponder chip.
Are passive systems — they activate automatically and are not connected to GPS or remote monitoring.
However, these systems have limitations:
Easily bypassed by experienced thieves using relay attacks, key cloning, or diagnostic port exploits.
No real-time tracking or shutdown ability — once the vehicle is taken, it's gone unless police spot it.
No remote alerts or support for recovery — owners only find out it's missing after the fact.
Yes. Immobilisation only activates when the vehicle is stationary and safe, and only under police direction. We will never cut the engine while a vehicle is in motion.
Yes. TrackBack Auto and our operators are licensed under the Security Providers Act 1993 (QLD). All patrols, surveillance, and immobilisation actions adhere to legal and ethical standards.
No long-term lock-in contracts. The initial upfront cost covers your first 12 months. Annual renewal is optional.
Yes. Our team can remotely deactivate and uninstall the device if needed. We also offer transfer of ownership/setup for the new buyer.
We provide verified, timestamped digital reports, tracking logs, and incident summaries that streamline investigations and potentially reduce write-off rates.
Trained and licensed security officers operating from our secure base in Cairns conduct the response.
Yes. Clients receive access to a secure mobile app with real-time vehicle location, history, speed, and immobilisation alerts.
